Common Questions
Questions about Settlements Plus
Who manages the investments?
Either the claimant's own financial advisor or North Coast. The portfolio follows an agreed Investment Policy Statement, which can be updated up to twice a year.
Why defer payments for 15 to 20 years?
Longer deferral lets the account move through multiple market cycles, so short-term swings matter less.
Are Settlements Plus payments tax-free?
Physical injury payments under IRC 104(a)(1) or 104(a)(2) are tax-free. Payments on non-physical injury cases are tax-deferred and taxed as ordinary income in the years they are paid.
